Support Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Care
This foundational course is designed to equip aspiring caregivers and healthcare support staff with the core competencies required to assist individuals in carrying out Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) with safety, professionalism, and compassion. Participants will develop a working knowledge of how chronic health conditions impact client care needs, learn how to select and prepare appropriate tools, uphold infection control standards, communicate effectively, and respond to emergencies - all while ensuring clients’ dignity and comfort are preserved. Through interactive, hands-on sessions and real-life care scenarios, learners will practise preparing clients for daily care routines, carrying out ADL procedures, identifying health changes, and following emergency protocols. This programme aligns closely with the growing needs of Singapore’s eldercare and community health sectors, offering strong employment relevance in nursing homes, home-based care, and support service environments. Upon completion, learners will be better prepared for caregiving roles and positioned for continued professional development in the healthcare support field.

Learning Outcome
✔ Understand how to assess individual client needs related to daily living support, especially in the context of age-related and chronic health conditions
✔ Familiarise with workplace protocols and documentation standards for recording care activities and ADL outcomes
✔ Learn proper emergency response procedures aligned with organisational guidelines and healthcare regulations
✔ Recognise the signs and impact of common chronic illnesses (e.g., dementia, stroke, diabetes) on client mobility and daily functions
✔ Understand basic first aid practices and the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
✔ Identify early warning signs and health changes that may indicate risks or deterioration in client conditions
✔ Learn legal and regulatory responsibilities in managing clients with complex or acute needs
✔ Acquire knowledge of assistive tools, hygiene equipment, and preparation techniques for safe ADL care
✔ Understand ergonomic and environmental factors to consider when supporting clients with physical tasks
✔ Learn principles of preserving dignity and privacy during personal care delivery
